Guwahati, Jan. 2: Notwithstanding Dispur’s push for financial inclusion of all tea garden workers, payment of wages through banks and ATMs will take some time, documents accessed by The Telegraph have revealed. Official correspondence of at least five tea garden managements in Sivasagar district in Upper Assam – considered to be a developed region compared to lower Assam and Barak Valley – reveal that though they have achieved 80 to 90 per cent of their target vis–vis opening bank accounts, disbursing salaries through banks would result in a lot of inconvenience.
